This year, Jenna celebrated her November birthday in the summer. Last October, when we were planning her 6th birthday festivities, she asked for an outdoor swimming party, complete with a "pinata" that dispensed water instead of candy.
Um... November is winter, Jenna.
So we promised her that her next birthday party would be an outdoor swimming one, and that it would be in the summer.
Last Saturday, we kept our promise and invited her cousins and favorite friends from preschool and kindergarten to the waterpark to celebrate Jenna.
It was a glorious day, with weather straight from heaven.
Lots of splashing and sliding and dunking and swimming
and floating in tubes down the lazy river.
And yes, the water was as wonderful as it looks.
and presents (which were provided by the friends and Grandma Karen).
Then it was back to the physical activities - swimming, sliding, tubing, playing in the sandpit and a round of miniature golf, stopping only for the mandatory hourly safety breaks and -at teatime - an ice cream treat at the in-house cafe.
It was a truly spectacular day. Jenna declared it the best birthday party she'd ever had.
And the best part of having an early party in the summer is being able to look forward to her actual family-birthday-party (with all the gifts and fancy meals) in November!
