Kate Is 6 Years Old

 April 1st.

Six years old and as spunky -if not more -as the day you were born.
You love all things bunny (not rabbit). You and Bunny are inseparable and have been on more adventures in just the year since you met her, than most of us in all our lifetime (so far). You spend hours and days and weeks setting up home for all your bunny minions. You somehow even find bunnies for your bunnies, because you believe everyone should have their own Bunny

You love singing, dancing and being a little bit crazy. You've just discovered how easy and exciting it is to read all by yourself and love logging the books you've read. You spend your mornings in school and your afternoons lunching and hanging out with Mom. You (and Bunny) are fantastic company on errands. You have an insatiable thirst and a remarkably high standard for crafts, and will determinedly scour Mom's Pinterest board for activities that "aren't boring".

You can't get enough of life - you are the first one out of bed in the morning, into your clothes, at the breakfast table, out the door. You are funny, smart, sweet, kind, gracious and one of the most thoughtful people we know. You adore your friends. You can't wait to be as old as your sisters so the world will finally stop telling you what you are too little to do (when we're the ones that are running to keep up with you!). We - and your teachers - have a million nicknames for you. We want you to stay teeny but we are excited to watch you grow up. We love how you smile, laugh, speak, giggle, cuddle, hug, love.

Happy birthday, sweet one!

Two weeks ago, we started celebrating.

We got together in Singapore with Grandpa Desmond, Grandma Mae (not in photo), Auntie Laura and the extended clan to feast. It was a treat for both Kate and our Singapore family to be together to do this.

When we got home to the US, we made her a birthday dinner (she picked pancakes with whipped cream, plus bacon).

And because she doesn't like cake (too sweet, apparently), we baked a birthday brownie instead. With bunnies on it.

She stuck all the candles in herself (but let us do the lighting).

And then we opened gifts:

a handmade wallet from one of my friends,

the movie whose soundtrack has been resounding from the lips of all three girls since they saw it in the theater,

and other little items that we labeled as being "with love from "Bunny" and "From the Baby Bunnies who saved up their allowance to buy this for you."

The celebration continues this weekend with the other pair of grandparents and the cousins. More food! Ice cream! Singing!
