This struck me as an odd question since I knew she knew what underwear was. But I obliged her, explaining that it was what a person wears under outside clothes.
Then she started to sing the words of the song she'd been humming - "Teddy Bears' Picnic" -
".. watch them, catch them unawares, the little teddy bears...!"
