Jenna has reached the stage in her development when she knows that signals have meanings and require responses. So, for instance, she knows that when the microwave oven timer goes off, dinner is ready. Or when the phone rings, we need to get it. Or when we hear the doorbell, it means someone is outside.
Today at tea-time, I was boiling some water in the kettle for our daily afternoon beverage. We heard the bell sound when the water had boiled, and Jenna said, "It dinged, mama! Answer the hot chocolate!"
