Tea Party

Today Emily and I decided we would have a tea party.
It was an elaborate process and took much preparation.

First, we baked cupcakes in two sizes: normal and elfin.
Next, we had Jenna take a nap
so we could frost them and add sprinkles.

Next we dipped mini Nilla wafers
in melted semisweet chocolate,
piped smiley faces on them
and left them to dry on wax paper.

Then we brushed the cobwebs off
our neglected tiered serving stand
and arranged plates of Nilla wafers, cupcakes,
cheddar-on-Ritz crackers and mini peanut butter sandwiches.

We also made a small teapot of hot chocolate since,
as Emily cautioned me, "Kids don't drink tea."
Finally, we set the table for fine dining with
plastic tableware and even-more-plastic tablecloth.

Then we woke Jenna up from her nap
and invited her to our tea party!
Emily liked it so much she wants to do it again
tomorrow... and the next day... and the day after...
